Content:To emphasize the importance of solid-liquid separation in mineral processing. To explain the separation techniques and application areas. Terminal velocity, free and hindered settling. Sedimentation theories, factors affecting the sedimentation. Flocculation and coagulation, zeta potential and application in sedimentation. Thickeners, operating principles. Gravity sedimentation and thickener designs. Separation by centrifugal force. Filtration, factors affecting filtration. Drying and dryers.
